Getting the word out !!
We want to thank all of you who took the time to fill out your surveys, it truly helps to provide for you the best that we can when putting these conferences together.
One of the comments, that many of you made, both verbally and written, was the fact that you didn't hear about the event until a week or two before it was to take place and that you had friends who would have come if they had known earlier.
We, in our advertising of events, send to all the parishes in our diocese a package which includes a personal invitation to the parish priest(s), posters for hanging, and fliers for placing out for parishioners to take. These packets have been sent out at the end of August and early September. The problem is that most parishes look at the date of the event and think, "it's too early to advertise and we've got other events going on to promote." We fully understand that parishes are busy and more so than others but without early promotion many people will miss the opportunity to come because they didn't know in advance.
What we are asking those of you who would like to help promote these events to do is, when you get your information in the mail you can bet your parish did too or will soon after you. (If you live outside of the Reno Diocese and would like a packet for you parish contact us.) You can encourage your pastor to please place the posters up when he gets them and put the fliers out. You can also ask him if he would have an announcement put in the church bulletin so your friends and fellow parishioners can see it. This would help out tremendously in helping those who want to come plan for it in advance.
